How to Make a Flavorful Garlic Chicken
Description: Garlic chicken is an easy and delicious dish that can be enjoyed for any meal of the day. Perfectly tender chicken pieces soaked in a rich garlic sauce, this recipe will satisfy your taste buds. It’s simple to make with just a few ingredients, but the results are amazing.
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4 people
Ingredients You Will Need
- 4 chicken breasts (bone-in or skin-on)
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced finely
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps to Follow
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While waiting for the oven to heat up, take out a large skillet and place it over medium-high heat.
Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in the skillet until it shimmers. Once the pan is hot, gently add the chicken breasts into the pan. Let them sit there without moving or flipping them so that they can get a good sear on both sides - this should take about 3 minutes per side.
Once browned and well-seared on both sides, remove the chicken from the skillet. Now, transfer all of it to an oven-safe dish. You might want to place your serving plates or bowls nearby as you’ll be transferring everything onto them shortly after.
In the same skillet used earlier for browning the chicken, add minced garlic and sauté until they turn golden brown but not burnt. Stir continuously throughout this process so that all pieces of garlic get evenly cooked.
Next, pour in dry white wine into the pan and let it bubble away for a few seconds to reduce slightly. Add soy sauce followed by dried thyme. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste preference. Make sure not to over-season at this stage since you can always add more seasoning later.
Once everything has been mixed together nicely, pour the sauce over the chicken pieces inside the baking dish. If there isn't enough liquid in the pan from the white wine reduction, you may need to top it up with a little bit of water to ensure that the chicken gets fully covered when baked.
Baking and Serving
Transfer your prepared dish into the preheated oven for approximately 25 minutes. During this time, periodically check on the chicken to make sure it's browning nicely on top without burning.
After about 25 minutes (or until internal temperatures reach 165°F when measured using a meat thermometer), remove your dish from the oven carefully and let rest for another 5-7 minutes before serving. This resting period allows the juices within the chicken to redistribute throughout, resulting in juicier flesh once sliced.
To serve, place slices of garlic chicken alongside steamed vegetables or over some fluffy rice for a well-rounded meal. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired but isn't necessary.
Tips and Variations
- Use boneless skinless breasts: For a quicker preparation time, consider using boneless skinless chicken breasts instead of whole pieces. They cook faster and require less browning.
- Experiment with different wines: White wine pairs beautifully here but feel free to try other types such as Riesling or Pinot Grigio depending on personal preference.
- Increase spiciness: Add some red pepper flakes or cayenne powder for those who enjoy a bit more heat in their meals.
This easy yet tasty garlic chicken recipe is sure to become a favorite among family and friends alike. Not only does it taste fantastic, but it also serves as an excellent base upon which one can experiment further with various flavors based on individual preferences.
Enjoy your cooking journey and happy eating!
